So many people in their "dislikes" list arrogance but, in the same breath, want somebody who is confident of themselves. Perhaps this is counter-intuitive because surely the more self-confident you become the closer you become to being arrogant.

So, where's the line?

Eg: 'I hate G W Bush!'
'Have you ever met the guy?'
'No but I heard he's a dick.'

I'd say self-confidence is a lack of shyness, being capable but not overbearing or overpowering.

Arrogance on the other hand is having an attitude of superiority, thinking that you're better than others. The arrogant person assumes his views and opinions are the only way there is.

Rather than the self-assurance born of knowing your own strengths and limitations, arrogance admits no limits.

self confidence is sexy, arrogance dosn't enter into it, i believe arrogance is an accusation made by less confident people x
